When choosing a name for the new crossover, the Japanese remembered the Eclipse sports coupe, which was discontinued in 2011 and in its time earned a reputation as a "street racer" car, especially after the release of the movie "The Fast and the Furious".

The revived Eclipse will have nothing in common with its predecessor. The model will be based on the Outlander crossover platform, and the exterior will be partially borrowed from the Mitsubishi XR-PHEV II concept car.

The engine lineup will include a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with approximately 120 hp, as well as a 2.2-liter diesel.

More detailed characteristics of the power units and the approximate premiere date have not yet been disclosed by company representatives.
