The model under the internal designation Y400 is externally similar to the LIV-1 concept, which debuted at the Seoul Motor Show in 2013. It is known that the next-generation Rexton will get a new platform that will reduce the weight of the SUV. According to preliminary data, the future Rexton will be available on the market in 5- and 7-seat versions.

As for the technical content, most likely, the flagship SUV of the Korean brand will retain the current engine – a 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 178 hp. It will be paired with a Mercedes 7-speed automatic transmission. A gasoline engine has also been announced. It will be a new turbocharged engine mated to a Mercedes 8-speed automatic transmission.

According to the Korean brand, the interior will be completely new and will feature a TFT display on the instrument panel, as well as a touchscreen display on the dashboard. The debut of the new SsangYong Rexton is scheduled for autumn 2016.
