Compared to the previous generation model, the car has grown in dimensions. Its length is 4475 mm (+65 mm), and width - 1850 mm (+30 mm). However, the height has decreased to 1645 mm (-15 mm). The wheelbase is 2670 mm (+30 mm).

The exterior of the new model is styled in the spirit of the Santa Fe crossover. The entire front end has been updated, including the radiator grille and bumper, which now houses not only fog lights but also daytime running lights. In addition, the designers reworked the rear: new-shaped optics and stampings on the sides have appeared.
The interior has also changed radically. The instrument panel has acquired a completely different style and architecture, and new buttons have appeared. According to the manufacturer, the materials and quality of the finish have improved, and the seats have become more comfortable. However, the trunk volume has decreased by 78 liters to 512 liters.

In the base version, the new IX35 is equipped with a keyless entry system, power tailgate, automatic parking function, improved TomTom navigation system, as well as blind spot monitoring and lane departure warning systems.
The engine lineup of the new generation SUV includes two 1.6-liter gasoline engines - 135 and 176 hp, as well as three diesels - a 1.7-liter with 115 and 136 hp, and a 2.0-liter with 184 hp. The power units are paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. However, for the top gasoline engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch preselective gearbox is also offered.

Production of the model will be established at a plant in the Czech Republic. Sales will begin in the second half of this year.
