The new model will take its place in the Volkswagen lineup between the Jetta and Passat sedans. The company expects it to compete for buyers with the Mercedes-Benz CLA. So far, only the main dimensions have been revealed: the body length will reach 4597 mm, the width — 1838 mm, and the height — 1422 mm.
Under the hood of the Lamando will be petrol engines from the TSI family with a displacement of 1.4 and 2.0 liters, which will work in conjunction with a seven-speed robotic gearbox.
Volkswagen positions this model as an option for those who find the Passat CC too expensive and bulky. Production of the car will be organized at a plant in Shanghai. The starting price will be 180 thousand yuan — about 29.3 thousand dollars.
The company does not deny the possibility of the car appearing on the European and North American markets, but there is no official confirmation of this. There is talk that this could happen in 2016.
