And so the Japanese manufacturer Toyota is going to release a new model developed jointly with the German BMW.
This will be a new compact car, slightly smaller than the GT 86 sports car. The new car will be built on the same platform as the BMW 1 Series hatchback.
Interestingly, in terms of design, the new Toyota will also resemble the BMW 1 Series. As the Japanese company believes, this will allow the car to be more popular in Europe.
The new car will be equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine producing 130 hp. The engine will work in conjunction with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. It is expected that the first prototypes of the new model will appear in 2015 at the Tokyo Motor Show. The car will go into production no earlier than 2017.
