The new Smart has been radically updated. It is built on a new platform developed jointly with Renault. Accordingly, the Smart has become a stepbrother to the Renault Twingo. The engine layout remains the same, it is located at the rear of the car.
Despite the fact that engineers tried to maintain the dimensions of the first generation, the new Smart has become larger - by 8 mm in length and 10 mm in width. A positive point is a slight increase in the volume of the luggage compartment. For the two-seat version of the car, it will be 260 liters (previously 230 liters), and for the four-seat version - 185 liters.
The car will be available to consumers with petrol engines of 1.0 liter (60 hp or 72 hp depending on the firmware) and a 1.0 liter turbo with a power of 90 hp. The transmission is optional: a five-speed manual or a six-speed robot with two clutches. The Start-Stop system is included in the base and does not require an additional payment.
The date of the car's appearance in our country is still unknown, as are the prices.
