The Japanese manufacturer has high hopes for this model: in the context of economic downturn and expensive fuel, it is small-displacement cars that may soon become the most in demand on the European market.
The Toyota iQ is aimed at competing with the Smart, but in fact it is noticeably more spacious than its rival. While the Smart's length is only 2695 mm, the Toyota iQ reaches 2985 mm. The company is proud of the new model's dimensions, because with such compact size, four people can fit inside. True, passengers in the back row will not be too comfortable, but that does not play a big role. The main thing is that the iQ gains a serious advantage over the Smart, which can only accommodate a driver and one passenger.
Safety. Of course, owners of such a little car are concerned about what will happen in a collision. And here Toyota has surprised. The compact iQ is equipped to the maximum: anti-lock braking system, brake force distribution, stability control, and even nine airbags.
Under the hood of the Toyota iQ, quite decent engines will be placed. For this little one, a petrol unit with a displacement of 1.0 L and three cylinders, producing 68 hp and 91 Nm, is provided. A 1.4-liter diesel with 90 hp and a torque of 190 Nm will also be available. Both engines are highly economical: the diesel version will consume only 4.8 L of fuel in the urban cycle, and 3.5 L on the highway. CO2 emission figures will also be minimal.
