Earlier, information appeared online that the Japanese automaker may abandon this model on the European market, replacing it with a new generation of Toyota Corolla, which will be offered in three body types: sedan, hatchback, and station wagon.

The Brazilian publication Noticias Automotivas managed to obtain scan copies of a booklet dedicated to the new generation of Toyota Auris. According to these materials, the model will receive a fully updated design: the styling of the radiator grille, front and rear lighting, as well as side mirrors will change. In addition, the car will look more dynamic and aggressive thanks to the new body silhouette.

Under the hood of the new Auris, a 1.4-liter four-cylinder unit producing 108 horsepower is expected. The engine lineup will also include a more powerful 1.8-liter motor developing 144 horsepower. It is possible that the model will also have a hybrid version. In addition, diesel modifications will, of course, be available for European buyers. The debut of the pre-production prototype of the new product is scheduled for the Paris Motor Show, which will take place in September of this year. Deliveries of the car to dealers should begin in the first half of 2013.

It is noteworthy that European consumers do not particularly favor the Auris hatchback. In the first four months of this year, almost 28 thousand units of the model were sold in the Old World. For comparison, Volkswagen Golf sales over the same period reached approximately 162 thousand cars.
