We are talking about a simplified modification of the Kalina, the base version of which is estimated at about 230,000–250,000 rubles ($7,500–8,000). When the Granta hits the market, production of the Kalina sedan will likely be phased out to avoid competition between models within the plant. However, the new model is intended to replace not only the Kalina, but also the more modest Samara, as well as the rear-wheel-drive "classic".
In addition to the Granta, the Volga Automobile Plant intends to show in Moscow its own version of a station wagon based on the Renault Logan with a branded front end and the Lada emblem. Its sales will start in spring 2012. Also, the Togliatti residents will present the Lada Priora CNG, capable of running on both gasoline and natural gas.
