For the first such violation, a fine of 17,000 hryvnias is planned. If the driver repeatedly violates the rules within a year, the amount will increase to 34,000 hryvnias, and temporary confiscation of the driver's license for up to six months is also possible.
In the accompanying document to the draft law, the authors explain: some motorists deliberately install equipment on vehicles that makes the engine significantly louder, which disturbs the peace of residents. This issue becomes especially important under martial law, as loud noise can resemble the sounds of enemy drones, causing a false sense of threat from the air or missile attack, and thus distract the military and police from performing their tasks.
The initiative was registered in parliament on August 4, 2023. Its authors are several people's deputies, including David Arakhamia, Vyacheslav Medyanik, and Andriy Kozhemiakin.
Currently, this document has already been included in the agenda of the Verkhovna Rada, so its discussion should take place soon.
