The corresponding resolution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was adopted back on March 2, but only now it has been made public. It establishes the rules for issuing, the main types and sizes of state license plates for vehicles, as well as their characteristics.
The main change is that the administrative-territorial affiliation of a vehicle will be determined not by the place of registration of the owner, but by the location of the service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs where it was registered.
For example, if the owner is registered in the Sumy region, but wants to register the car in Kyiv, then they will be issued Kyiv license plates. The new requirements do not apply to license plates left by citizens in service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for paid storage.
The innovation is designed to optimize the process of providing service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with license plates. Moreover, it will significantly reduce the costs of manufacturing plates. By the way, very soon license plates for cars will be issued directly at car dealerships.
