The Verkhovna Rada plans to tighten administrative penalties for drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as under the influence of medical preparations.

254 people's deputies voted in favor of adopting the corresponding draft law in the first reading. The proposed norms stipulate that for the first such offense, a fine of 10,200 hryvnias will be imposed, and the driver's license will be confiscated for one year.

If a driver is caught again for such an offense within two years, they will have to pay 20,400 hryvnias, and the period of license deprivation will increase to three years. If this does not stop the offender, then within the next five years, driving under the influence will result in a fine of 40,800 hryvnias and deprivation of rights for a ten-year period.
