The additional duty will take effect on December 5, 2015, and will apply to new UZ-Daewoo passenger cars with gasoline engines ranging from 1.0 L to 2.2 L.

The commission links this decision to the fact that Uzbekistan has restricted the legitimate rights and interests of Ukrainian foreign economic activity entities – automotive enterprises – on its domestic market. Such actions were deemed "discriminatory and unfriendly."

It is worth recalling that this is not the first step to restrict the import of Uzbek cars into Ukraine. For instance, several years ago, the same Interagency Commission limited the quota for importing UZ-Daewoo cars to just 3 cars per year! True, this initiative was soon suspended. The representative office of the Uzbek brand hopes that the same will happen this time.
