The country lives one life, and the deputies live another. Of course, it is commendable to punish drivers who park in disabled spots. But against the backdrop of events in the east of the country, such innovations seem at least strange and inappropriate.

Judge for yourself: while hostilities are ongoing in eastern Ukraine, the people's deputies have concerned themselves with increasing fines. And for what? For unwillingness to pay for parking...

In total, 232 parliamentarians voted for document No. 2499. To be specific, the Verkhovna Rada introduced sanctions for non-payment of the parking fee. The amount of the penalty ranges from 8 to 12 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, that is, from 136 to 204 hryvnias. It is curious how the legislators plan to ensure the implementation of their initiative in the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions?

In addition, amendments were made to the Code of Administrative Offenses. Sanctions have been introduced for parking in spaces designated for people with disabilities. Also, punishment is provided for parking operators if the norms for vehicle placement are violated on their premises.

Perhaps a reform in the parking sector is overdue, but there are far more significant and pressing issues in the country...
