Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department together with representatives of the Internal Security Service of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine detained members of a criminal group operating in several regions of the country and engaged in the illegal acquisition of elite brand cars. Among those detained was an active employee of the special platoon of the Road Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine — a unit previously known as the special squad "Cobra" under the Department of the State Automobile Inspectorate — Roman Z., as well as his former colleague Ruslan K., dismissed from internal affairs bodies for discrediting circumstances. As evidence, a Lexus LX 570 SUV was seized from the suspects.

The prosecutor's office opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to current legislation, such an offense provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years, as well as confiscation of property.
