Clarkson shared his opinion on the Chinese automotive industry with Russian journalists. When asked about Chinese cars, he replied:
"We've been to China. They are very funny, they completely don't care about our opinion or anyone else's opinion for that matter. One billion two hundred million Chinese, and they all think: who are you to criticize us? We are like mosquitoes to them. Mosquitoes land on my jacket, and I don't give a damn about them. However, their auto industry is developing rapidly — and soon they will be everywhere," the Top Gear host told Avto.Vesti.Ru in an interview.
