Information about the model's discontinuation leaked from Toyota's purchasing department and fell into the hands of the American site Automotive News. Soon, representatives of the Japanese company confirmed this.

The reason for the discontinuation of the Toyota Avalon is clear – currently, demand for sedans worldwide has sharply declined because buyers have shifted to crossovers. Considering that Toyota has two models in the large sedan segment (Camry and Avalon), the less popular one had to be dropped. For comparison: in the US, in the first half of 2021, 177,671 Camrys and only 10,328 Avalons were sold.
The only exception is the Chinese car market, where sedans remain popular. Therefore, the Toyota Avalon will still be produced and sold there for some time.

Recall that the Toyota Avalon has been known since 1994. Currently, the fifth generation of the model is in production.
