The CEO of Renault, Luca de Meo, announced the innovation at the company's shareholders' meeting in Paris. According to him, speed is the main cause of deaths on the road. Especially since legally driving at speeds of 180 km/h and above is only possible in Germany on autobahns.

Also, Renault cars will get the Safety Coach technology: it will monitor speed limit road signs and adjust the car's speed to stay within the set limits.

Luca de Meo did not say when these innovations will become mandatory for all Renaults, but most likely it will happen soon. However, it is known that the first model to get Safety Coach will be the new Renault Megane.

By the way, Renault is not the first automaker to decide on such a restriction. Previously, a limit of 180 km/h for their cars was introduced by Volvo.
