The automaker warned of a possible electronic failure that could prevent airbags from deploying in the event of a crash.

It is noted that on Corolla (2011–2019), Matrix (2011–2013), Avalon (2012–2018) and its hybrid version, an electronic control unit is installed that is not sufficiently resistant to interference. Because of this, at a critical moment the airbag may not deploy.

In March of this year, Toyota plans to conduct another major recall of vehicles on the US market, which will involve repairs to 696 thousand cars. The list will include Toyota 4Runner, Camry, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, Avalon and Corolla, as well as Lexus LS 500, LC 500, RC, GS, IS, ES, LX, GX, RX and NX. The reason was a possible malfunction of the fuel pump on 2018 and 2019 model year vehicles. This could lead to engine stall and create a risk of emergency situations.
