Tesla claims that they have already managed to surpass the achievement of the Porsche Taycan electric sedan on the Nürburgring track, with an advantage of twenty seconds. Moreover, the American manufacturer intends to reduce the lap time by another fifteen seconds thanks to a number of improvements. Nevertheless, paparazzi captured one of the Model S prototypes in the P100D+ Plaid version failing to complete an attempt to set a record.
The video shows the electric car standing motionless on the roadside, and later it is taken away by a tow truck. The company has already announced a suspension of runs and that it will return to the Nürburgring in a month. Most likely, this pause is caused precisely by the malfunction of the Model S in the Plaid version, which should show a record time on the ring. By the way, there are rumors that the window tinting hides the absence of a standard interior: only a racing seat and a safety cage are installed inside.
With the new power unit, according to Tesla, the electric car is capable of conquering the Nürburgring in seven minutes twenty seconds, which is twenty-two seconds better than the Porsche Taycan Turbo result. Next month, the Model S P100D+ Plaid will try to improve its time to seven minutes five seconds, which corresponds to the level of such serious supercars as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro. Tesla prototypes are equipped with semi-slicks and stand out with extended wheel arches and a massive rear wing.
