The decision on the winner was made by a jury consisting of 86 media representatives from 24 countries. In addition to the Jaguar I-Pace, the final voting stage included another electric crossover, the Audi e-tron, and the new generation of Volvo S60/V60 models.
In addition to the overall victory, the Jaguar I-Pace was also recognized in the categories of "Green Car" and "Best Design." The title of best city car went to the new Suzuki Jimny, in the executive car segment the Audi A7 hatchback took first place, and the McLaren 720S was named the best sports car.
A year earlier, the title of Car of the Year was won by the Volvo XC60 crossover, which beat the Mazda CX-5 and Range Rover Velar in the final standings.
