Audi does not plan to develop a new generation of the R8 sports car, which will be discontinued in 2020.
The reason for this step was cost reduction and weak buyer interest in this model. Even the special rear-wheel-drive version R8 V10 RWS launched in the fall failed to increase its demand.
It is expected that in 2020 a new generation of the Italian supercar Lamborghini Huracan will debut, which uses the same platform as the R8. However, according to American media, the German counterpart of the Huracan will no longer appear.
