The new service was launched as part of the New Mobility concept and allows renting and returning a mini electric car at one of 14 locations near Yokohama railway station.
The rental cost includes an initial fee of 200 yen ($1.75), to which you need to add 250 yen ($2.20) for every 15 minutes of travel. The maximum daily cost of the service will be 3000 yen ($26.5).
You can reserve an electric car 30 minutes before the start of the trip. To do this, you must have a valid Japanese driver's license, a smartphone, and a credit card issued in Japan, as well as register on the Choimobi website.
In addition, all registrants must watch a video containing instructions on driving the electric car and information on road safety.
It is forbidden to drive on expressways and leave the city limits in the rented electric car.
