The purchase of Opel and its British division Vauxhall cost the French PSA group 2.2 billion euros.

It is expected that the German brand will help the PSA concern take second place among car manufacturers in Europe, increasing its market share to 17%. This will allow it to get closer to Volkswagen and push the Renault-Nissan alliance to third position.

General Motors owned Opel since 1929, but now the American concern has lost interest in the European market, which is why it decided to get rid of its last brand in this region.
