Mercedes-Benz eActros is a medium-tonnage truck with a 6x2 wheel arrangement. The Germans prepared thoroughly for the launch of this model: the first prototypes were released back in 2016, and since then they have covered more than half a million kilometers on public roads (in test mode).

Fully electric truck Mercedes-Benz eActros

The eActros is powered by two electric motors that together produce 544 hp. Often electric vehicles use a single-speed reducer, but in this case Mercedes used a 2-speed gearbox.

However, the eActros surprises most with its power source: depending on the version, the truck is equipped with three or four batteries, each with a capacity of 105 kWh. Accordingly, the top version is equipped with a block of as much as 420 kWh (!), which is enough to travel 400 km without recharging. With such a range, the electric truck can be used not only in populated areas, but also on intercity routes.

Mercedes also took care of fast charging: the vehicle can be "refueled" from direct current with a maximum power of 160 kW. Thus, energy reserves from 20% to 80% will be replenished in just 1 hour (in the case of the three-battery version).

Also, the Mercedes-Benz eActros provides an energy recuperation system. In terms of safety, the truck is equipped with systems that will automatically stop the vehicle if a hazard is detected on the road.

Production of the Mercedes-Benz eActros will start in the fall, with first deliveries beginning closer to the end of the year. For now, the new product will be available only in Western Europe, but later it will be introduced to other markets.
