It is indicative that the volume of payments increased, while the number of accidents remained almost at the same level: in the first five months of 2025, there were 61,309 accidents — only 0.84% more compared to the same period last year, when 60,798 cases were recorded.
The average compensation amount also increased noticeably and amounts to UAH 39,260, which is 20.6% higher than the 2024 figure of UAH 32,559. However, the MTSBU notes that this is an average figure, as in some cases payments can exceed UAH 100,000.
This once again demonstrates that a motor third-party liability policy is not just a document for an inspector, but real protection of financial interests. If you are the culprit of an accident, it is the insurance company that compensates the victims for damages. If you are the injured party, you receive compensation without additional personal expenses.
It is worth recalling that from January 1, 2025, updated auto insurance rules came into effect in Ukraine, causing the price of MTPL policies to increase by 70–100%, depending on the region and vehicle parameters. At the same time, the increase in liability limits and payment amounts partially offsets the price increase.
For reference: during the entire 2024, the total volume of insurance compensation amounted to almost UAH 3.5 billion. If current trends continue, 2025 may set a new record for the total amount of payments.
