The annual predicted reliability rating of cars from Consumer Reports is based on a survey of owners. It does not take into account objective data on breakdowns. The result is measured on a scale from 0 to 100 points: the higher it is, the more reliable the model is considered. The indicator by brand is the arithmetic mean across models.
In 2021, the average score ranges from 41 to 60 points. Traditionally, Asian automakers lead with a score of 62. European ones scored 44. American ones performed even worse — 42 points.
The list of car brands includes only those for which data were obtained for at least two models. For this reason, Land Rover, Jaguar, Mitsubishi, Dodge, Fiat, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo were not included in the new rating.
