Contrary to expectations, the revival of the automotive industry is being delayed – the decline for the year will be 9.3%. And this despite a rapid growth of 34% in the first five months of 2021.

Moreover, this time it is not about the COVID-19 pandemic at all. The reason for the market collapse is the chip shortage. It has not been overcome, and apparently, in the second half of the year the situation will only worsen.

Experts believe that the semiconductor shortage will be fully overcome only by the beginning of 2023. However, it will be replaced by a new problem – a shortage of batteries for electric vehicles. The production rate of lithium-ion batteries is not keeping up with the growing demand for electric cars.
