In the passenger car segment, February sales reached 224 thousand units — a drop of 86.1% compared to January and 81.7% compared to the same month last year.
Production of new energy vehicles in February fell to 9,951 units, down 83%, while sales dropped to 12,908 units — a 75% decrease. As for purely electric passenger cars, their sales over the year decreased by 73.8% and amounted to 9,291 vehicles.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers believes that the coronavirus outbreak will put pressure on vehicle production and sales throughout the first half of this year.
At the same time, Association experts expect that already in March, production and sales figures will noticeably increase compared to February.
