Sales fell for the first time in two years. For comparison, June showed growth of 80%.
In July, 80,000 NEV units were sold in China. In the PRC, the abbreviation NEV refers to locally produced battery electric vehicles, hybrid cars, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
The main factor behind the decline in NEV demand is the reduction of government subsidies that had been stimulating purchases, which started in the previous month.
Total car sales in the world's largest auto market fell by 4.3% in July, marking the thirteenth consecutive month of decline. The data was released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
June's decline was 9.6%, and May's was 16.4%. Last year, the market went down for the first time since the 1990s due to the economic slowdown and the trade conflict with the United States.
