The court ordered the car company to pay a fine of half a billion euros — Porsche representatives accepted the decision and refused to appeal.

During the proceedings, it was found that since 2009, employees of the department responsible for checking vehicles for compliance with emission standards had repeatedly shown negligence and improperly performed their control duties. As a result, some cars that came off the assembly line during that period did not fully meet the toxicity requirements in force at the time.

The final penalty amounted to 535 million euros. Of this, four million were for the negligence committed, and 531 million were for improperly obtained economic benefit. The company has already reserved funds to cover these expenses, and they will be reflected in the financial statements at the end of the second quarter of 2019.
