Based on the results of the first three months of the year, the company recorded a loss of $709.5 million.
The American company attributes the losses to significant investments in the development of new cars. Among them, the main project is the electric model Model 3. Tesla noted that this car has already started generating revenue. In the third quarter, the company intends to produce between 50 and 55 thousand such electric vehicles.
Earlier, Tesla CEO Elon Musk asked suppliers to return part of the funds transferred to them under contracts since 2016. The appeal stated that such a return would allow the company to achieve profitability and maintain normal operations. However, the company itself has so far only reported ongoing negotiations with suppliers to revise prices under certain agreements.
In April of this year, Tesla's shares on the New York Stock Exchange lost 5.1%. According to experts, the reason was a series of adverse events related to the automaker recently.
