The 60 and 60D versions will be removed from the model lineup, where the battery capacity is artificially limited to 60 kWh, although for an additional fee it was possible to activate the full capacity of 75 kWh.
The reason is the appearance on the market of the affordable electric car Model 3: its higher trim levels are capable of creating internal competition for the base versions of Model S.
Although the start of Model 3 sales is expected no earlier than next year, the company has already decided to exclude inexpensive Model S from price lists starting in April.
