Yes, if a final decision is made, starting January 1, 2016, new duties will be introduced on Russian-made cars, as well as spare parts, tires, and other parts and components. They will become an additional reason for the rise in price of Russian cars, for which it was previously decided to introduce special duties of 10.41-17.66% (depending on the manufacturer and brand).
Ukraine's response to Russia may lead to not only UAZs and VAZs becoming more expensive, but also foreign cars produced in the Russian Federation. In particular, these are Hyundai, Nissan, Renault, etc. If the Cabinet of Ministers introduces a new taxation procedure for Russian cars, they will rise in price for the Ukrainian consumer by 30-40%. Among recent new products of the Russian automotive industry, it is enough to recall one of the largest and most affordable sedans, the Nissan Sentra.
In this case, it is safe to say that importers and distributors will simply refuse cars made in Russia, since their cost will become uncompetitive. Likewise, a dramatic increase in the price of tires and spare parts is possible. And in Russia, as a reminder, Bosch components, Nokian and Michelin tires, as well as other spare parts and components for cars are produced.
