During the annual study, the Hyundai Equus managed to score 900 points — this is the best indicator among all cars presented on the market. The flagship sedan outperformed competitors in the premium segment and showed results above the market average in aspects such as exterior appearance, cabin spaciousness, and the set of technologies, including the audio system, entertainment options, and navigation equipment.
In addition, Hyundai was recognized as the most dynamically progressing brand: the marque earned 33 points and in 2011 rose to the 15th position. This became Hyundai's highest achievement in the APEAL Study, allowing it to surpass Asian and American mass-segment manufacturers. The main contribution to this success was made by the updated versions of the Sonata and Elantra, which added 57 and 35 points respectively. Under stiff competition, the Hyundai Sonata managed to take second place in the midsize car class, yielding to the leader by only two points — 818 versus 816.
