According to Automotive News, such a system will soon be implemented at 17 plants of the concern around the world.

The development is a video camera that assesses the degree of fit of the door to the car body. If the parameters do not meet the established requirements, the door will be reinstalled. The equipment will take measurements both after body assembly and after applying the paint coating.

As Ford engineer Ron Kettlehut, who participated in the creation of the system, notes, this technology allows detecting defects that the human eye is not always able to notice. The new product has already been tested at the company's plants in Germany and the USA, where the new Focus is produced.

Earlier, Ford announced plans to use technologies from the Hollywood film industry at its production sites to improve working conditions. It is expected that this will significantly reduce the physical load on employees.
