Robotic mechanics with two clutches (DSG, DST, S-tronic, Twin Clutch SST)

A robotic gearbox with two clutches is a type of transmission that uses two independent clutches: one is responsible for odd gears, the other for even gears. This scheme helps to avoid pauses and jerks during shifting, which are typical for conventional robotic gearboxes.

Due to the fact that one clutch is already prepared for the next gear, acceleration remains smooth and fast. In terms of dynamics and fuel efficiency, such a gearbox is comparable to a manual transmission, and in some cases even surpasses it.
