This premium car has long been awaited in Ukraine, because despite all the ups and downs of the economic and political situation in the country, it remains in demand among a certain category of buyers. There is always a demand for such cars. Under any circumstances and under any government. And this is confirmed by statistics.
The car is really good and interesting, although its purchase, of course, is not part of our plans. We are interested in it as a work of art and engineering thought.
In the new product, the perfection of the S-Class merges with the exclusivity of Maybach. Among the qualities that distinguish these cars from production models are more space, as well as luxurious executive interior options with a host of customization possibilities. It is worth noting that Mercedes-Maybach is not a trim line, but a whole sub-brand under which Mercedes-Benz cars are produced in an even more exclusive form. Today, Maybach, along with AMG, is the second sub-brand in the Mercedes-Benz world. It is aimed at customers who care about their status and embodies the idea of executive exclusivity. It is expressed in everything, for example, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is distinguished by an exemplary low level of noise generated by oncoming air flows, and thereby surpasses the quietest car in the world - the S-Class coupe.
The Maybach is 207 mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class version. Of these, 200 mm went to lengthen the space between the middle and rear pillars. Thus, this additional gain in space was used entirely in favor of the comfort of rear passengers. This longest representative of the S-Class differs from its "smaller" siblings in subtle but easily memorable changes in the appearance of the front and rear of the body. A characteristic feature of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class appearance has become three double slats of the chrome radiator grille and additional vertical chrome moldings. This theme is also picked up in the design of the rear of the body.
Back in the 30s, the Maybach advertising brochure said: "To create only the best from the best materials, cars with a bright character, radiating aristocratic elegance and power, satisfying all wishes that can only be imagined."
This goal has not changed to this day: in its interior, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class surrounds passengers with modern luxury organized as relaxation zones. The clear architecture of the interior, noble materials and controls make this car a living embodiment of elegance.
The Exclusive trim package, included in the basic equipment, makes the car even more luxurious, especially for passengers in the second row of seats. An important role in this is played by a decorative wood element, distinguished by a sensual curve and a handcrafted character of execution, framing the space around the rear seats. In addition, decorative elements on the backs of the front seats, doors and around the air vents are also made of noble wood.
Both the driver and the front passenger are surrounded by maximum comfort, but a true sense of spaciousness reigns in the rear of the cabin. This was facilitated by an increase in the wheelbase by 200 mm. The backrest of the rear seats is adjusted separately, so that the legroom and the position of the support point do not change. The maximum angle of inclination of the Executive seat backrest is 43.5 degrees.
The steepest seat backrest angle of 19 degrees will allow you to work effortlessly and comfortably. Executive seats have a calf support that is freely adjustable in length and inclination. The basic equipment includes the "Chauffeur" function package. Its key component is the ability to move the front passenger seat forward as much as possible, giving the rear passenger 77 additional millimeters of legroom. EASY ADJUST comfort head restraints are installed as standard on the front seat backs. Part of the "Chauffeur" function package is also a footrest that extends from under the front passenger seat. Thus, a semi-reclining position can be ensured.
The comfort package for the rear seats includes multicontour seats with individual adjustment and an ENERGIZING massage function with the effect of heated stones. When choosing the "First-Class rear cabin" option, the front part of the console, located on top of the central tunnel, visually forms a single whole with the console in the rear of the cabin. It has cup holders with heating or cooling at the passenger's choice.
In the central part, at the customer's request, two tables can be built in, which, as in the case of an airplane seat, easily slide out and unfold. To make it comfortable to write at the tables, their tabletops have leather inserts. An exclusive option of additional equipment (standard for the Mercedes-Maybach S 600) is the AIR-BALANCE package, which includes an air ionization function, improved air filtration and aromatization of the interior with the exclusive AGARWOOD fragrance. It was developed exclusively for this car: an Arabian incense based on agarwood (also known as agar) has always been considered one of the most valuable (more expensive than gold) ingredients.
Technical specifications
The biturbo V8 engine under the hood of the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 produces 335 kW (455 hp) from a displacement of 4663 cm3. The torque reaches 700 Nm. In the combined cycle, the sedan consumes 8.9 liters of gasoline per 100 km, and CO2 emissions are 207 g/km. Permanent all-wheel drive increases traction and vehicle stability when driving. The Mercedes-Maybach S 500 is equipped as standard with the 9G-TRONIC transmission, the world's first 9-speed automatic transmission in the premium segment. The wide range of gear ratios (9.15) between first and ninth gears allows reducing the crankshaft speed, which is a decisive factor in achieving high fuel efficiency and driving comfort.
The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 has a biturbo V12 engine that develops 390 kW (530 hp) and works with a new generation 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission. The displacement is 5980 cm, and the maximum torque is 830 Nm, starting from 1900 rpm. The Mercedes-Maybach S 600 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. The most important distinctive features of the V12 engine are an aluminum crankcase, a single-chain timing drive, a forged crankshaft made of high-quality, thermally improved steel, forged pistons, separate ignition coils with a multi-spark ignition system, sodium-filled hollow exhaust valves and a low-temperature cooling system circuit with a separate expansion tank.
Safety systems
The Intelligent Drive complex includes options already familiar from the S-Class: the PRE-SAFE® braking system with pedestrian detection function, the DISTRONIC PLUS adaptive cruise control system with steering assist and Stop&Go Pilot automatic traffic jam function, the BAS PLUS preventive emergency braking system with cross-traffic assist function, active lane keeping assist, adaptive high beam assist and night vision system.
The Executive seats installed as standard in the rear of the cabin have an innovative inflatable airbag. It is located under the soft upholstery of the seat, but above the plastic seat pan. Thus, this airbag is always in the correct position relative to the passenger. Such an innovation as the seat belt buckle feeder is typical for Mercedes-Benz. The process of fastening seat belts in the rear of the cabin is greatly simplified: when the rear doors are opened, the seat belt buckle automatically extends upward, and the buckle slot is illuminated by LEDs.
