Renault Dokker: a versatile minivan for work and home

Renault Dokker is positioned by the manufacturer as a multifunctional vehicle suitable for both daily trips and commercial use. The model was first shown to the public in 2012 at the Casablanca Motor Show. The name Dokker is derived from the English word "docker," emphasizing qualities such as endurance, strength, and unpretentiousness.

The car is based on an extended version of the B0 platform. This platform is widely used in the production of budget models from Dacia, Renault, Lada, and Nissan. Development of the platform began in 1998, and the first car based on it — the Renault Logan — appeared in 2004. Currently, B0 is the foundation for B-class vehicles of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Its key advantage is the ability to create different body types on the same base, including light commercial vans and SUVs.

Renault Dokker is maximally unified with the Renault Lodgy model. The main differences concern the body, which is adapted for ease of loading and unloading. The car is equipped with side sliding doors (left side optional) and rear swing doors. The suspension is reinforced to accommodate increased load capacity.

For the European market, three engines were offered: two petrol engines with a displacement of 1.6 L (83 hp) and 1.2 L (115 hp), as well as a 1.5 L diesel with 75 or 90 hp. All engines are well-known from other Renault models. Drive is only front-wheel. The interior can be configured as a cargo or passenger version for five seats.

As an option for all trim levels, the ESP dynamic stabilization system and MEDIA NAV multimedia system are available. Even the base version is equipped with two airbags and ABS. The front suspension is MacPherson type, the rear is multi-link (similar to that used on the Renault Kangoo). Production of the model is established at the new Renault plant in Tangier, Morocco.

Sales of the Renault Lodgy in Ukraine started in September 2013. Ukrainian buyers had access to two engines: a 1.6 L petrol (80 hp) and a 1.5 L diesel (85 hp). The transmission is only a five-speed manual. All cars for Ukraine undergo adaptation to local roads and feature increased ground clearance: 190 mm for the passenger version and 185 mm for the Dokker Van.
