Renault Captur is a compact crossover from the French brand, built on the latest technologies of the manufacturer. The model name comes from the English word "capture," meaning "captivating."
After the success of the Nissan Juke, a partner of Renault, the French company also decided to release a car in a similar segment. Work on the model began in 2011. The exterior and interior design was developed by Italian specialist Giulio Lozano. His work formed the basis of the Captur concept, first shown in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show. The concept used the same platform as the Nissan Juke. The prototype featured a panoramic roof, and body parts were made of carbon, reducing the car's weight to 1300 kg (compared to 1540 kg for the production version). In the production model, presented in 2013 at the same Geneva Motor Show, carbon and the panoramic roof were abandoned in favor of more practical steel elements. The spacious and easily transformable interior was borrowed from Renault minivans. The car received the latest self-locking differential RX2.
Under the hood is a diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters and two turbochargers. It is paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Drive is front-wheel.
In Ukraine, sales of the Renault Captur start in 2014.
