Peugeot 308: Model Range Overview

The Peugeot 308 is a family of compact cars produced by the French manufacturer to replace the 307 model. The number "3" in the name indicates its belonging to the European C-segment, while "8" denotes the next generation of the model.

First Generation (2007–2013)

The decision to replace the Peugeot 307 was made by the company's management in the mid-2000s. Development of the successor began in 2005, with exterior and interior design handled by renowned designer Stefan Perou. The production version was unveiled in 2007 at the Paris Motor Show, featuring a striking exterior and spacious interior. The car was built on a platform inherited from the 307 model, with a similar chassis design. Compared to its predecessor, the new model was longer and wider.

The first-generation Peugeot 308 family included five body styles: three- and five-door hatchback, station wagon, two-door convertible (from 2009), and sedan (from 2011, exclusively for the Asian market). The engine lineup consisted of six units: three petrol and three diesel. The diesel engines were equipped with an innovative injection system that allowed fuel savings without loss of power. The 308 HDi engine was awarded a Guinness World Record certificate as the most economical engine in the world. CKD assembly of the family cars, besides France, was organized in Russia, China, Argentina, and Indonesia.

In 2011, a facelifted version was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. All modifications received a new front end, including the grille, headlights, and bumper design, while the rear underwent minimal changes. Inside, the materials of the trim and seat upholstery were improved, and the instrument panel and center console were updated. The petrol engines were modernized, and the diesel ones received an innovative micro-hybrid e-HDI technology.

Second Generation (from 2013)

The second generation of the Peugeot 308 was introduced in 2013 at the Paris Motor Show. The family received a new exterior and interior design, similar to the 208 and 508 models launched in 2012.

Offer on the Ukrainian Market

In Ukraine, at the time of writing, the facelifted version of the first-generation Peugeot 308 was sold. It was available in three body modifications: five-door hatchback, station wagon, and convertible. The cars were equipped with petrol and diesel engines with a displacement of 1.6 liters. The engines were paired with four types of transmissions: five-speed manual, six-speed robotic, as well as two automatic gearboxes — four- and six-speed. The car's drive is front-wheel drive.
