The traffic police note that the number of car thefts, unfortunately, is only growing. Moreover, at a very alarming rate. Thus, in January-March, 418 car thefts were committed in the capital, while a year earlier, during the same period, there were almost 2.5 times fewer thefts – 185 cars.
Among the most popular brands of stolen cars are VAZ (60 cars), Toyota (54), Lexus (24), Daewoo (20), and BMW (19).
The vast majority of thefts were committed at night, and on Wednesdays. Slightly less often, criminals stole cars on Fridays. The most "dangerous" districts are Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Darnytskyi, and Pecherskyi.
Speaking of specific streets, since the beginning of the year, the most thefts have been recorded on Hlushkova Street, Heroiv Stalinhrada Avenue, Obolonskyi Avenue, and Bazhana Avenue.
