General Motors has announced the introduction of a 9-speed automatic transmission on the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu sedan.
The new gearbox will replace the six-speed automatic and will eventually be installed on nine more GM vehicles.
On the Malibu sedan, the nine-speed automatic will first appear with a two-liter turbo engine producing 250 horsepower. This combination will reduce fuel consumption to 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
