The world premiere took place at the Paris Motor Show. In the exterior of the new model, one can discern the features of its predecessor in harmonious combination with completely new design solutions and the family traits of the new Skodas.
In our opinion, from some angles the new Fabia resembles the latest generation SEAT Ibiza. However, this is not surprising, since Skoda and SEAT are part of the same concern. Compared to the previous model, the new car has become wider (by 90 mm) and lower (by 30 mm). The trunk volume of the hatchback is now 330 liters, and for the estate – 520 liters.
Like all other new cars of the VAG group, the Skoda Fabia 2015 is built on the modular MQB platform. In the base version, the car has a 1-liter petrol engine with 74 horsepower. Also in the engine range are: a 1.2-liter petrol unit with 89 hp and a 1.4-liter diesel with similar power. It is worth mentioning separately the GreenLine version, which received a 1.4-liter turbodiesel with 74 horsepower. According to the manufacturer, with such an engine, the Fabia consumes only 3.1 liters per 100 km.
Among the innovations inside, it is necessary to mention separately the MirrorLink technology – it connects the smartphone and the touchscreen display in the car, which today is already considered not so much a luxury as a necessity.
Sales of the new Skoda Fabia start in November 2014 (hatchback version). The estate will appear on the market in early 2015. In mid-2015, the charged RS modification will debut.
