The published sketch shows a desire to maintain a connection between generations. Fans of the Russian off-roader will be pleased with the availability of a three-door version, which gives reason to hope that the Niva will not lose its off-road qualities, including the transfer case and a rugged suspension.
Those who do not require increased off-road capability will be offered a five-door version, as well as possibly an automatic transmission. AvtoVAZ has not yet disclosed information about engines, but the appearance of a diesel engine is not announced, since it does not fit within the cost limits set by the designers. However, petrol engines will meet environmental standards of at least Euro-5 and Euro-6.
It is worth recalling that the current version of the Lada 4x4 will receive a powertrain from the Priora, rack-and-pinion steering, and other improvements by the end of 2014.
