According to preliminary information, Hyundai is considering creating a two-door coupe on the platform of the new generation Sonata sedan, despite plans to launch the Veloster concept model into production. The coupe version of the Hyundai Sonata is expected to retain a spacious interior comparable to the sedan, as well as inherit the expressive front-end design of the car.
The new model will likely receive a 2.4-liter Theta II GDI engine with about 200 horsepower, which will be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is worth noting that the engine lineup of the Hyundai Sonata sedan, in addition to the 2.4-liter unit, will also include a 2-liter engine with 165 horsepower.
The price of the Hyundai Sonata coupe could be around $20,000, and the model's premiere will most likely take place next year at one of the major international auto shows.
