Skoda has for the first time offered a full-fledged hybrid powertrain without the possibility of external charging. The new system will be received by the Skoda Octavia in two power variants - 134 and 168 hp. Orders will open in October, and the first deliveries are planned for December. This is reported by Carscoops.
The hybrid Skoda Octavia received two electric motors

The Skoda Octavia's powertrain is built on a series-parallel scheme. It includes a 1.5-liter gasoline TSI, two electric motors and a single-speed automatic transmission. The smaller electric motor works as a generator and starter, while the larger one drives the front wheels and recuperates energy.
The system automatically switches between three modes. At low speed, the Skoda Octavia is capable of traveling about 2 km on electric power. Up to 60 km/h, the gasoline engine drives the generator, which produces electricity for the traction electric motor.
After 60 km/h, the Skoda Octavia switches to parallel hybrid mode. Then the 1.5-liter engine directly drives the wheels, and the electric motor provides additional thrust when needed.
The full-fledged hybrid Skoda Octavia develops up to 168 hp

The base version with a 1.5 TSI producing 129 hp has a total output of 134 hp. The higher modification uses a 148-hp gasoline engine, and the total system power is 168 hp. Both versions received a battery with a capacity of 1.6 kWh and a top speed limited to 180 km/h.
The hybrid will be offered for the Skoda Octavia Hatchback and Skoda Octavia Estate in the Selection and Sportline trim levels. Standard equipment will include a 10-inch digital instrument panel, a 13-inch multimedia display and a Hybrid badge on the tailgate.
The price of the new model has not yet been announced. For comparison, in the Czech Republic, the Skoda Octavia Selection with a mild hybrid starts at $31,660.
