At the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, a pre-production version of the 2026 Corolla was shown. It is expected that in Europe, and most likely in Ukraine, this new product will appear no earlier than the second half of 2026. If earlier the Corolla was perceived as a calm family car in a hatchback or sedan body, now it is a completely different story: a futuristic exterior with sharp edges, a lowered profile, and features of a sporty fastback. A high window line, a smooth roof, panoramic windshield, and a noticeable spoiler on the short trunk lid make the car much more aggressive and fresher. Narrow headlights are installed at the front and rear, united by LED strips, which adds a technological touch to the image.

The interior of the concept resembles a spaceship cabin. Here there is a fully digital instrument panel, touch keys, a large central screen, and even a separate display for the front passenger. Whether all this will make it to the production model is still unknown, but Toyota's vector is obvious: simplicity, richness of technology, and premium quality.

The main intrigue is the technical filling. Toyota engineers have prepared a new generation of gasoline engines with improved output. The list includes:

  • 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 128 hp
  • 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 177 hp
  • 2.0-liter turbo engine for the "hot" GR version — approximately 400 hp

Thus, the Corolla for the first time receives a level of power that is usually inherent in premium sports cars, not mass-market models.

The hybrid version will remain in the model range, but for the first time it will be joined by a plug-in hybrid that can cover part of the journey exclusively on electricity — this is convenient for the city and allows saving on fuel. A fully electric version is still only being discussed; there is no final decision.

For the Ukrainian market, this is especially relevant, as the Corolla is one of the sales leaders in the country and a favorite among drivers due to the balance of price, reliability, and liquidity. During difficult periods, during the war and after it, this model remained the choice of those looking for proven technology with inexpensive maintenance. The appearance of hybrid and plug-in hybrid modifications will be another argument in favor of the Corolla, especially given the rise in fuel prices and interest in economical cars.

If Toyota can maintain a reasonable price tag and preserve its legendary reliability, the 2026 Corolla has every reason to once again become the "people's choice" — now in the era of electrified cars. All that remains is to wait for official data on deliveries to Ukraine. And it seems the wait will be justified.
