The author of the project to revive the LuAZ brand, Vadym Ihnatov, spoke on his Facebook about plans to produce a new car. According to his idea, the updated LuAZ should become an inexpensive electric pickup truck. It is about the model being revived by private enthusiasts, not by the manufacturer.
Ihnatov noted that the pickup truck was recognized as the most successful solution for such a car. Ukraine lacks vehicles suitable for small businesses, farmers, and simply for household needs. It is the pickup truck that can cover these needs in cargo transportation and become a universal base for many use cases.
It is planned to produce two versions of the pickup truck:
- a modification with a two-seat cab and a spacious cargo compartment;
- a variant with a four-seat cab and a smaller cargo platform.
The models have been named "Farmer" and "City", which indicates different scenarios for their use. However, due to the current situation in the country, the production launch dates and the price of the LuAZ 2023 model year remain uncertain.
