The refreshed 2022 Volkswagen Jetta received modified bumpers, a different radiator grille, new chrome details, wheels of a different design (their size ranges from 16 to 18 inches), a wider color palette (new colors Kings Red Metallic, Oryx White Metallic, and Rising Blue Metallic were added), as well as a digital instrument panel. The size of the latter varies depending on the trim level – so, the base version comes with an 8-inch one, while the Jetta GLI has a 10.2-inch one.
There were also changes in terms of technology: in the USA, the 1.4-liter TSI with 150 hp was replaced by a new 1.5 TSI unit with 160 hp and a torque of 249 Nm (in Mexico, the same 1.4 remains). Both engines work in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic. The Jetta GLI, meanwhile, is equipped with the old 2.0-liter TSI with 228 hp and 350 Nm, which works in tandem with a 7-speed DSG robot with dual clutch.
The GLI version also differs by the presence of a front spoiler, rear diffuser, spoiler on the trunk lid, extended sills, black roof and rear-view mirrors, sport suspension (15 mm lower than the standard version), sharper steering, LSD differential lock, driving mode selection system with four driving modes, reinforced brakes with red calipers, and chrome exhaust pipes. Wheels are only 18-inch. Inside such a car – a new leather steering wheel with red stitching, sport seats, pedal covers, red accents, and individual floor mats. The equipment is richer: there is not only adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping, but also dual-zone climate control, heated seats, and more.
Finally, another feature of the new Jetta is that the Jetta R-Line version was replaced by the Jetta Sport variant. Among other things, it can be recognized by the black window frame, darkened grille, and other sporty bucket seats. The wheels in this case are 17-inch, and the Sport Jetta can also boast an electronic differential lock XDS.
The updated Jetta will arrive at American dealers in the fourth quarter of this year.
